Let’s just say that the Jordan 1 and skateboarders have a long Relationship. It goes all the way back when the shoes first came out in 1985. Intentionally designed for the basketball court, the hi-top leather basketball shoes immediately got the attention of the riders!

As it was among the favorites to ride along with the Blazer, Dunk High, & the vandal. As the hi-top ankle wrap & and cushioning was a perfect fit for paddings and protection, the leather offered durability and the flat sole was keeping that board feel. The design of this shoe was turn out to be a perfect skate shoe without intended to be. With all the history behind it, no wonder it’s been adopted by Nike SB division.
One of the most memorable time to ever come across this shoes was in the Powell Peralta TheSearch for Animal Chin movie, where you can spot throughout the whole movie young Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Lance Mountain, Rodney Mullen, Mike Valley and more ripping the street and ramps in Jordan 1.

This Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 collabs is a clin d’œil to the first ever SB x Air Jordan collabs in 2014 with Lance Mountain. Back in the days, skater uses to paint their shoes to customize them, once they will ride them, all the scraping from the grip revealed the original colors of the shoes. Nike recreated this effect to perfection. And is now using it again for this release. This AJ1 comes with a wear-away material that reveals the hidden colors behind.
