Vans Skate Half Cab '92

The Half Cab, a mid-top version of Steve Caballero's 1989 pro shoe inspired by skaters' DIY mentality, has been around for three decades. Skateboarders would take the Caballero pro shoe (later termed the "Full Cab"), cut away the high-top ankle paneling, then duct tape the exposed seam to get the fit they sought before the Half Cab's official release in 1992.

Vans is commemorating the 30th anniversary of the famous sneaker with a whole year of special releases. The Vans Skate Half Cab '92 is available in two colorways as part of the anniversary celebrations.

The Skate Half Cab '92, which comes in navy and taupe, reworks the classic shoe to make it more suitable for modern skating. The good news is that most of the alterations aren't aesthetic, so the shoe keeps its traditional appearance. The toe cap and ollie patch have been separated, which Vans incorporated to give the Half Cab a more contemporary aesthetic. A fresh sidewall finish and a checkerboard heel hit are also included.

Duracap rubber underlays, long-lasting SickStick gum rubber soles, and PopCush inserts for additional comfort are among the performance features.
