Nike SB is once again highlighting the long-standing history between Air Jordan and skateboarders. This time by joining forces with non-other than Eric Koston a.k.a the Michael Jordan of skateboarding. Longtime sneakerhead, Koston did not only achieve some great things on his skateboard, but he also was a pioneer of the skate shoe design by being one of the first one to combine esthetic of basketball shoes and convert it into a skate shoe. Going back to Eric És days with the K3 which was one of the first skate shoes that actually looks like sports shoes. Koston never hide his love for basketball! From rocking is LA Laker Jersey, or being seeing shooting some hoops with some homies or NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. Giving props to Kobe Bryan after landing a trick. I can always associate Basketball with Koston. It only makes sense that a collab was inevitable.
When Nike first started to sign skater in the early 2000s, the SB division did not exist. So as usual riders will usually wear the Air Jordan, has history has shown to be the prime choice for skaters since the 80s. And who remember Gino’s Yeah right part? the connoisseur will recall Seeing Gino riding a slick white and navy blue Jordan 1 low. For those who don’t, just hit up Youtube Gino Yeah Right part ;-) Either way, Koston definitely did remember Gino’s showing him this pair because it clearly inspired him for the design of this shoe.
The Air Jordan 1 low X Nike SB X Eric Koston collab edition is a crispy as it gets!
The pure white leather contrast with a smooth navy blue suede. An overall slimmer look, focusing on board control we can see that some of the paddings has been removed to compensate. With slim down tongue, a more pointy toebox making sure these flips kicks in smoothly. Special details make these ones even more unique, with the NikeSB woven label on the tongue instead of the Jumpman, along with the Koston’s signature on the inside. Silver air Jordan heat-printed on the heels in silver. And like a cherry on top! The red Jumpman logo on the top of the toebox make’s the whole shoes a unique as it gets!
This definitely kicks off the partnership between Koston, Nike, and Jordan to a great start! The releases of the Nike SB Air Jordan 1 Low by Eric Koston is unfortunately delayed due to customs issues. The shoe will be available In-store and Online. Stay tuned for further notice on the release.
